Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Gateshead – In office

Salary: £50 000.00 DOE

Work Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 to 17:00 Fridays 15:00

Job Description:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of innovative mechanical systems and components. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to create high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct engineering analysis, including stress, strain, and thermal simulations, to validate designs.
• Perform prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Assist in the development of manufacturing processes and work with suppliers to ensure product quality.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical design.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (master’s degree is a plus).
• 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Experience with engineering analysis tools (such as ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and industry standards.
• Experience with prototyping and product testing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
